Early Life
Queen Isabella was born on April 22,1451, her mother was Isabella of Portugal and her father was John I of Castile. After her father died her half brother Henry IV became king of Castile. At three years of age Isabella’s brother, Alfonso, was next in line after Henry. For a while Isabella and her brother lived with their mother in peace, but soon that changed. In 1457 Isabella was brought into the Castilian politics and was brought to court. At the age of 13 she was ordered to be under the kings eye and therefore Isabella was opposed the kings heiress.
Later on in her life she and Ferdinand of Aragon married but they didn’t get king Henry’s approval. Since Isabella is Henry’s heiress she needed his approval before marriage. Eventually they were officially married and Isabella was pronounced Queen of Castile and the two united Castile and Aragon making the country of Spain.
